Manny Machado's recent home run has solidified his place in San Diego Padres history, tying him with franchise legend Adrián González for the second-most home runs in team history.

In a dominant performance against the Tampa Bay Rays, the Padres scored 10 runs in the first four innings, ultimately winning 13-5. This victory marked the Padres' first trip back to Tropicana Field in eight years and ended a seven-game losing streak at this venue.

Machado had a standout game, contributing three hits, two runs, four RBIs, and the pivotal home run that brought his total with the Padres to 161. He now sits just three home runs shy of Nate Colbert's franchise record.

“To be on that list in such a short period of time, it's awesome,” Machado said, per Brian Murphy of MLB.com . “Just to be on that same level, it's an honor.”

“My swing is where it needs to be," Machado said. "My body is feeling great, too. Just trying to be as consistent as I can possibly be.”

“He’s got such a balanced swing,” Manager Mike Shildt said. “He's got a good feel for what he's doing, and that swing allows him to be balanced and on time and then it allows him to be able to handle everything.”

Since joining the Padres on a 10-year, $300 million contract, Machado has become a key player for the team. His stats include a .275 batting average, 514 RBIs, and 161 home runs. He has also earned multiple All-Star selections and accolades, including a Silver Slugger Award.

Machado began his MLB career with the Baltimore Orioles after being drafted third overall in 2010. He played over six seasons there before a trade to the Los Angeles Dodgers, where he helped the team reach the World Series in 2018.

As he continues to perform at a high level, Machado is poised to break the franchise home run record by the end of the season. His consistent swing and strong physical condition have him feeling confident as he chases this milestone.
