Overshown, a third-round pick in 2023, has navigated a tough road back to the field. The East Texas native was sidelined last season due to a significant knee injury during a preseason game, an experience that forced him to redshirt his rookie year. However, his recovery journey has been marked by determination and resilience.

"I feel great," said Overshown. "Just making it to the season healthy is a plus, so we're already doing better than last year."

Limited by a hip pointer at the end of training camp, Overshown has since returned to full practice with the Cowboys.

Head coach Mike McCarthy praised his progress, noting , "If anything, he had too much progress."

Overshown's impressive performance metrics during training camp, including his agility and explosiveness, have underscored his readiness to contribute from the outset of the 2024 season.

Overshown's anticipation for his return is palpable.

"It's a blessing to be able to strap on my cleats again," he expressed, reflecting on his journey from a small town in East Texas to the NFL stage.

Overshown, also known as "Agent Zero" from his college days, has embraced the number 13 jersey for now but remains hopeful for a chance to wear No. 0, a number currently held by the Cowboys' mascot, Rowdy .

Looking to make a name for himself, Overshown remains focused on the field. With the season opener against the Browns approaching, he is eager to bring his signature energy to the Cowboys' defense. "I'm ready to strap 'em up, for real," he declared.

Overshown’s return adds depth to a Cowboys linebacker unit that missed his presence last season. His performance in Cleveland could set the tone for a defense aiming for a strong start to the season. The Cowboys will face off against the Cleveland Browns on Sept. 8 , and Overshown will be a key player to watch as Dallas seeks to build on last year’s progress.
