Hudson Card fell just short of perfection in Purdue's season opener, but he will have to settle for a blowout win and an NCAA record.

Card led the Boilermakers to a 49-0 win in their season opener, completing 24-of-25 passes for 273 yards and four touchdowns. Card was pulled midway through the third quarter after throwing a touchdown that put his team up 35-0, leaving the game with a record-high completion percentage.

As IndyStar.com reporter Nathan Baird reported, Card tied the NCAA FBS record for completion percentage in a game. He matched Georgia quarterback Greyson Lambert, who also went 24-for-25 in a game against South Carolina on September 19, 2015.

Card's performance also set the all-time completion percentage record for Purdue.

The former Texas transfer came into the season below the radar in the Heisman race, but his performance on Saturday earned some buzz among fans while adding a big win for the Boilermakers.
