David Pollack Declares One Team Already 'Punched A Ticket' To College Football Playoff

Former ESPN analyst David Pollack took to social media on Saturday to share a few comments on the full slate of college football.

Pollack was active during Notre Dame's victory over the Texas A&M Aggies. The No. 7 Fighting Irish marched into No. 20 Texas A&M and secured a big-time 23-13 win in one of their toughest games of the season.

After their Week 1 matchup, the road to the College Football Playoff doesn't seem too rocky for the Irish.

They have just two ranked games remaining on their schedule, which come later in the year against the No. 10 Florida State Seminoles and No. 23 USC Trojans.

Given their performance against the Aggies in Week 1, ND should be favored in every game for the rest of the season.

Notre Dame's offensive line and quarterback were having trouble adjusting to a new season after quarterback Riley Leonard transferred to ND to lead the Irish.

Despite their struggles on the offensive end, there's clearly a talented option with Leonard as the signal-caller, and with weapons around the field, Pollack has confidence in Notre Dame.

He believes they were tested in Week 1 and passed in one of the toughest places to play, Kyle Field, so the Fighting Irish may have just punched their ticket to the College Football Playoff.

"Notre Dame with a completely New Oline, QB, OC just went to one of the hardest places in the country to play & clutched up!!!!!" Pollack wrote on X, formerly Twitter. "They only have 2 ranked teams left on their schedule with FSU & USC. Also play GT. Notre Dame might have just punched a ticket to the playoff."

Notre Dame's next game will be played in South Bend against Northern Illinois in Week 2 at 3:30 p.m. ET.

They have a peaceful schedule for much of the season, having to face just a few top-level opponents that have been streaky throughout the years like the Seminoles, Trojans, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, and Louisville Cardinals.

Even if the Fighting Irish were to suffer a loss, or potentially two losses, they would still have the chance to fight for a playoff spot, given the inauguration of the 12-team College Football Playoff.

As Pollack explained, the Fighting Irish showed what they can do with the weapons rostered in Week 1, and they seem to have a bright future ahead of them.
