'Not A Rebuild!' Commanders' GM Adam Peters' 'Win Now' Expectations

Washington Commanders owner Josh Harris stripped this team down to its bare bones following last season’s dismal 4-13 finish. He cleaned house from top to bottom then brought in the guys he believes can restore this Washington franchise back to its former glory.

First year general manager Adam Peters was tasked with heading up this rebuild and given the rains by Harris. On a recent interview with Grant & Danny on 106.7 The Fan in D.C. Peters shut down any talk of a rebuild.

“It’s not a rebuild; it’s a recalibration,” Peters said. “We are trying to win right now. We do have goals to be really good this season.”

This should be music to Commanders fans ears. This franchise has been through the ringer for nearly 30 years. They’ve had a few playoff appearances, but haven’t been to back-to-back playoffs since 1991-1992.

They last won the Super Bowl in 1991. Since, they’ve only made the playoffs seven times. And they only have four division championships in that same time period. Also in that same stretch, they’ve finished last in the NFC East 13 times.

So, it’s safe to say that Commanders fans are yearning for a winning team.

The Commanders head to Tampa Bay to take on the Buccaneers next Sunday, Sept. 8. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:25 p.m. EDT.
