The Texas Tech Red Raiders nearly suffered a massive upset against Abilene Christian in Week 1. Abilene Christian sent the game into overtime with 17 fourth-quarter points and a field goal in the final seconds to tie it at 45.

In the extra period, Texas Tech scored a touchdown to take the 52-45 lead. Then, Abilene Christian scored a touchdown but failed to convert the would-be game-winning two-point conversion.

After the game, Abilene Christian was involved in a scary traffic incident. A bus transporting the players was involved in an accident right before midnight, per a release from the program.

“The bus, carrying team members and coaching staff, was en route to Abilene when the accident occurred at the intersection of Marsha Sharp Freeway Fontage Road and University Avenue at approximately 11:45 p.m.," the statement read. "As a result of the accident, four individuals received minor injuries — one student-athlete, two coaches and the bus driver."

All four injured individuals were transported to the University Medical Center in Lubbock.

The accident occurred when a 19-year-old male collided with the bus after he "disregarded the traffic directions." He was later arrested for a DWI, per a report from KTAB.

“We are grateful to Texas Tech Director of Athletics Kirby Hocutt, their team physician, Dr. Michael Phy, and all of the first responders for their assistance and care," the statement read.

All of the injuries have been reported as minor , per Fox4.

Abilene Christian's next game is on Saturday, September 7, against West Georgia.
