Who Is At Fault For Jets-Haason Reddick Standoff?

The New York Jets are preparing to open the 2024 season on the road in San Francisco, but with the way things are heading, they won't have their full projected roster leading the way.

Haason Reddick, the Pro Bowl edge rusher out of Temple, was traded to New York in April but has not shown up for any practice yet as he looks for a new deal.

He has missed all of training camp, the preseason, and team meetings that otherwise would have had him prepared for the upcoming year ahead.

As the Reddick holdout from the Jets continues into the month of September, the blame game continues to be played by both sides.

On one hand, Reddick still has a year left on his deal and to sit out games or practices only hurts his long-term chances of securing the kind of deal he's been looking for over the years.

For the Jets, they traded for a player they knew was furious with his current contract, gave him added leverage with the trade of John Franklin-Myers, and continued to pretend to be surprised by the player's refusal to show up without a new deal.

The reality is both sides are at fault for where things currently stand for the Jets going into the 2024 season. And that will continue to be the case the longer Reddick's holdout remains.
