Joel Klatt Reveals His 'Legitimate' CFB Playoff Contender After Week 1

    By Cole Sullivan,

Joel Klatt broke down the weekend in high volume on his podcast and even revealed a team that impressed him so much that they are a legitimate conference and college football playoff contender.

Week 1 was filled with controversial topics. Many of the 'top teams' ranked in preseason looked sluggish. While other teams were dominant in every aspect of the game.

However, the one game that caught Klatt's eye was USC's epic win over LSU Sunday night in Las Vegas 27-20, and he vouched for the Trojans, when many were doubters.

"Going in, what did we say in all of these preview episodes? That this game was going to be huge. If USC wins, it announces them as a playoff contender, and that is absolutely the case." Klatt said.

He later added, I went to bat in these preview episodes for Lincoln Riley and for USC and for Miller Moss. Saying Lincoln Riley is who he always is and if he can get any semblance of a quality defense, then watch out, and that's exactly what happened... and I told you if they do beat LSU, then guess what? They're a legitimate playoff contender, and that's exactly what's going to happen."

USC shocked a lot of people Sunday night. Only allowing 20 points is unprecedented for a Lincoln Riley-led team, and he seems to have the quarterback in Miller Moss to get the job done.

The Trojans could be a force to be reckoned with and supplanted themselves as a top five team in the Big Ten for the time being.
