Derek Jeter will serve as the honorary captain for the Michigan Wolverines during their upcoming game against the Texas Longhorns. This matchup, featuring the No. 8 Wolverines and the No. 4 Longhorns, is expected to be one of the most significant non-conference games of the college football season.

Jeter, a Kalamazoo native and lifelong Wolverines fan, had a chance to play baseball for Michigan after high school. However, he chose to go professional after being drafted by the New York Yankees in 1992, where he spent his entire MLB career. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2020.

The game is set to kick off at noon ET in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
