Florida State Under Fire for Disastrous Start Against Boston College

No team in college football needed their confidence boosted more this week than the No. 10 Florida State Seminoles.

They were defeated by the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets team in their Week Zero game, despite being double-digit favorites. Additionally, they had hoped that DJ Uiagalelei, who transferred from Oregon State as a quarterback, would be able to continue the success of Jordan Travis. However, he struggled significantly in Week Zero and has not shown much improvement this week.

For their second game of the season, they are hosting another ACC foe, the Boston College Eagles. The initial thought was that being back in the US after playing in Ireland last week would provide some comfort, but unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case.

That confidence boost that the Seminoles needed so badly didn't come to fruition in the first quarter, as the Eagles dominated the time of possession.

Despite clock issues on-site, when the first quarter was confirmed to have ended, The Athletic's Stewart Mandel revealed that Florida State had the ball for three plays that lasted all of 51 seconds.

It's quite a start to the game that has led to fans truly ripping into the Seminoles, and it is only getting worse as the first half carries on.

"This FSU team may just be reallyyyy bad. Playing with no heart or fire. 3 total offensive Plays in the 1Q is absurd," wrote one social media user.

"Boston College just stole Florida State’s lunch money that entire first quarter. Straight up methodical bully ball," added another.

"Florida St has not looked like a top 25 team thru 5 quarters of their season," replied another fan.

Boston College's execution only got stronger in the second quarter, as the Eagles led by two scores with around 10 minutes remaining.

Coming into this game, ESPN had the Seminoles as 16.5-point favorites.

There is still time for the Seminoles to turn around, but through their first three possessions, they have yet to get a first down.
