NFL Insider Savagely Tells DJ Uiagalelei to Prepare for Tight End Role

If Florida State quarterback DJ Uiagalelei hopes to make the NFL, a position change might be necessary.

Uiagalelei has struggled mightily through his first two games with the Seminoles — the third program of his college career. With Florida State down against Boston College, NFL insider Albert Breer of The MMQB said Uiagalelei might be better suited as a tight end.

"Meanwhile, DJ Uiagalelei might want to start training for the 40 at the combine," Breer wrote on X . "At his size, could have a shot to play tight end in the pros."

Some in the comments couldn't tell if it was honest advice from Breer or some shade.

"You being serious I can't tell," one commenter responded .

Uiagalelei could certainly fit in among a group of tight ends. He's 6-foot-4 and around 250 pounds. He has 1,139 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns on the ground over his career but isn't known for his speed.

Uiagalelei has two other stops on his resume. He started at Clemson before spending last season at Oregon State. Entering Monday's game against Boston College, Uiagalelei had passed for 8,512 yards and 57 touchdowns in his college career.

If football doesn't work out, Uiagalelei could pursue a career in a different sport. The Los Angeles Dodgers selected him in the 20th round of the 2023 MLB Draft.

“Honestly, he could have been a top-couple-round guy if he stuck with baseball,” Dodgers area scouting supervisor Jonah Rosenthal said after the pick.
