As the Buffalo Bills enter the 2024 season with a completely new-look wide receiver group, one of their old weapons is earning an important honor on his new team. Former Bills star Stefon Diggs has been named a captain for the Houston Texans.

This is not the first time that Diggs has earned this honor, as he was named a Bills captain in each of the three previous years. While being a captain does not actually make a difference on the field, it does symbolize a player's leadership in the locker room, as team captains are chosen by the players themselves.

Diggs will now be a captain for his first year in Houston after he was traded by Buffalo in the offseason. The Bills sent Diggs, along with a fifth-round pick and a sixth-round pick, to Houston in exchange for a second-round pick in 2025.

Despite a successful four years in Buffalo, where he was selected to four Pro Bowls and led the NFL in both receptions and receiving yards in 2020, the Bills decided to move on from Diggs in the offseason as his production began to drop and his relationship with the team seemed to worsen.

Now, Diggs will look to compete for a championship with a Houston team led by sophomore quarterback CJ Stroud. Diggs will also have the chance to face his old team when the Bills play the Texans on Oct. 6.

Before that matchup, however, the Bills will open up their season against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
