The Golden State Warriors are about to embark on a new era, beginning in the 2024-25 NBA season. With Klay Thompson no longer with the Dubs, it will take time for fans to get used to watching superstar point guard Steph Curry operate on the court without the other half of the famed “Splash Brothers” duo.

The Warriors also missed the playoffs last season, leaving many to dismiss not just Golden State’s chances to bring home another Larry O’Brien Trophy but to win the Western Conference.

It’s a sentiment that Curry loves to prove wrong.

"I love the fact that people don't think we can keep the pace with some of the other teams that they're picking in the West," Curry said, per Natasha Dye of People .

“And I just love that challenge of stepping into a training camp and being able to create your own success — that gets me going."

Curry and the Warriors went 46-36 in the 2023-24 season, finishing just 10th in the Western Conference standings. That record was good enough to clinch a play-in berth but the Warriors failed to advance to the playoff proper after losing to the Sacramento Kings.

Curry clearly still believes that he and the Warriors can seriously contend for an NBA championship, and that will largely depend – again – on his ability to perform at a high level. The 26-year-old Curry averaged 26.4 points with a 57.3 effective field goal percentage last season.

The Warriors have longer odds to win the West than multiple other teams. The Oklahoma City Thunder are the favorites to win the conference with odds of +320 to do it, per ESPN . The Warriors are priced at +2200.
