Looking back at the coaching carousel this offseason, it seemed unclear who would replace the legendary Nick Saban after his retirement from coaching the Crimson Tide.

Many names came about by insiders or by fan rumors. Those listed as serious contenders for the job were Kalen DeBoer, Lane Kiffin, Steve Sarkisian, Dan Lanning, and even Deion Sanders. However, one name that emerged from rumors was Florida State's head coach Mike Norvell.

Norvell has done a tremendous job in reviving the Seminole program, and 2023 is a prime example of it. Even though they faced injuries and close games that affected them when they did not get selected for the 4-team playoff, the Seminoles were undefeated and won the ACC Championship.

Unfortunately, Norvell and the Seminoles have had a horrific start to their 2024 season by losing to Georgia Tech in Dublin, Ireland, then losing to a Bill O'Brien led Boston College at home.

In his post-game conference , Norvell apologized to the team and the fans for this bad start to the season.

"I'm sick to how the season started," said Norvell. "I apologize to our fans. I apologize to everyone associated with the program... That was extremely disappointing."

Fans and analysts have flooded X with criticism for the head coach and his quarterback DJ Uiagalelei for their poor performances. Senior sports reporter for AL.com Michael Casagrande even weighed in with a bombshell of a post .

Casagrande would post in reference to when Norvell openly stated his allegiance to the Seminoles back in January: "Would be real easy to say Alabama dodged a bullet so I won’t."

He is not the only one to share these thoughts, as many fans have roasted Norvell for this season's start and that Alabama fans should rejoice they did not hire him.

Regardless of the now, Alabama has a gem in DeBoer, and they have no plans to ease off the brakes from their dominant start to the season.
