While Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark has been getting the lion’s share of attention recently, and rightly so, the red-hot streak that Kelsey Mitchell is on has mostly flown under-the-radar.

The 28-year-old guard is one of the hottest players in the WNBA, and in the Fever’s 93-86 win over the Los Angeles Sparks on Wednesday night, Mitchell made a bit of history.

The Ohio State alum became the first player ever to average 25 points per game, with a field-goal percentage of 55 or greater, 3-point percentage of 40 or greater, and a free-throw percentage of 90 or better during a win streak of five or more games, according to StatMamba .

Mitchell led the WNBA in scoring during the month of August, and many believe she should have won Player of the Month instead of Clark, including Clark herself.

A case can be made that Mitchell has been a top-three player since the Fever returned from the Olympic break. Over that span, Mitchell has scored 20 or more points in seven of eight games, while averaging 4.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists and nearly four made 3-pointers per contest.

The Fever have won five straight games and seven of eight since resuming the second half of the season on Aug. 16, and Mitchell and Clark hitting their strides at the same time is a big reason why.
