Bills' Josh Allen Aiming To 'Spread The Wealth' On Offense vs. Cardinals

    By Adam Schultz,

The Buffalo Bills open their season on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals, and Josh Allen's offense under Joe Brady will look vastly different.

With no Stefon Diggs and Gabriel Davis, Allen's receiver unit only has one player returning from last year - Khalil Shakir.

The Bills' offense will operate using a receiver-by-committee approach , with Keon Coleman, Curtis Samuel, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Mack Hollins, and Shakir making up the room.

But Allen isn't worried about who gets catches and when, he just wants the best possible play.

"We got a lot of new guys, new faces and just trying to spread the wealth," Allen said . "I think the term that we've been using is everybody eats, and it's going to take all 11 guys on the field at any given time to make a play. So that's kind of our mindset, and it doesn't really matter who gets the ball or when they get it, we're going to be happy for whatever we're doing out there and just trying to make the best play possible."

Many have used Buffalo's lack of talent at receiver to doubt how far the franchise can go in 2024, with some having the Bills missing the playoffs.

Others are high on them, though, due partly to No. 17, and we can see why. But Buffalo's season will ultimately depend on how Allen can elevate his receiver group, much like Patrick Mahomes did last season.

Sean McDermott's defense will again likely be a stout unit despite several departures, but overall, Buffalo still has the nucleus of a good football team.

But all eyes will be on the offense against Arizona and the Bills' receivers to see how they fare with Allen in Brady's system.

Allen wants to spread the wealth, and we're about to see if that's a sustainable model going forward.
