The Los Angeles Dodgers are set to promote rookie pitcher Landon Knack from Triple-A Oklahoma City to take over Clayton Kershaw's spot in the rotation. Kershaw was placed on the injured list after suffering a bone spur in his left big toe during a recent game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

This will be Knack's sixth stint with the Dodgers this season. He has a 2-2 record with a 3.00 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP in 10 games, including eight starts. At Triple-A, he has a 4-3 record and a 3.71 ERA over 14 games. In his last outing for the Dodgers on August 13, he allowed one earned run on three hits in four innings against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Kershaw's injury isn't new; he has been managing the bone spur for years. However, the pain intensified during his last start, making it difficult for him to pitch effectively. The team expects Kershaw to wear a walking boot during his recovery.

For Knack, this call-up is another opportunity to establish himself in the major leagues. While he has struggled to strike out batters at this level, he has shown promise in Triple-A, averaging over a strikeout per inning. Known for his pitch variety, he features a low-90s fastball along with a curveball, slider, and changeup.

As the Dodgers navigate Kershaw's absence, Knack will look to make a strong impression and contribute to the team's success.
