College Football Program Reportedly Removed From Conference After 2025 Season

College football season is among us. While many fans are involved in the latest news surrounding the SEC, ACC, and Big Ten, a recent report revealed some major information about the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin.

The report mentioned that Washington University in St. Louis will be removed from the CCIW. This move for the conference will allow a membership of nine teams.

The dismissal of the Bears after the 2024-25 college football season allows the conference to have a smooth ride for scheduling purposes.

Their current situation with 10 programs seems to have put the conference at stake because of issues with bye week and non-conference game scheduling.

With nine teams in the conference, the CCIW will have one non-conference game or bye week designation for each team every season.

Despite the decision to ditch Washington University, the program has faired well in conference play throughout the past few years.

WashU has finished in the top half of the conference every year since they joined the league, which was in 2018. Since their arrival, they hold a 37-15 overall record and a 33-12 record in conference play.

The report, by D3 Football, revealed that Washington University could be returning to a previous conference in the Southern Athletic Association, following its revoked membership from the CCIW.

As of right now, however, Washington University is preparing to kickoff their season on Sept. 7 against Rhodes College.
