Nick Saban and the "College GameDay" crew were previewing the Texas Longhorns versus Michigan Wolverines game in Week 2.

Just before Saban and the rest of the panel shared their picks for the Week 2 slate, the former Alabama Crimson Tide head coach shared his thoughts on the LSU Tigers.

The Tigers fell to 0-1 on the season after losing to the USC Trojans 27-20 in Week 1. Despite the loss, Saban said that he was impressed with his former rival (and also former employer). He also shared a story with the Tigers, giving them advice from his past experiences with the Michigan State Spartans.

"The one team that I was impressed with was LSU," Saban said. "It reminded me of a story when I first started coaching Michigan State. We played Nebraska and we got the dog beat out of us, and I thought we'd never ever win another game. I go out after the game and shake hands with Tom Osborne, he puts his him arm around me and he said 'You're not as bad as you think.'"

Saban wants to relay the same message to LSU. He believes there should be no overreaction to the LSU Tigers starting the season 0-1.

"That's the message that I would give to LSU," Saban added. "You're not as bad as you think."

The Tigers finished the 2023-24 college football season with a 10-3 record. They've been flying around double-digit wins for years, but Brian Kelly had high expectations in his third season with the program.

LSU may be facing a rough start, having to climb the ladder after starting the season 0-1, but Nick Saban doesn't think they're a bad football team.

There's been tremendous change in the program, having to play with a new signal caller in Garrett Nussmeier. They had to fill a massive hole after losing 2023 Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels.

While they seemed to have struggled in Week 1, only time will tell where the Tigers can take the season with Nussmeier and a talented group in the trenches on both sides of the ball.

LSU will have a chance to bounce back in Week 2 vs. Nicholls State in the Bayou.
