ESPN College GameDay Loses Power Right Before CFB Predictions

The ESPN "College GameDay" crew is in Ann Arbor, Michigan on Saturday, September 7 getting ready to witness a battle between the No. 10 Wolverines and No. 3 Texas Longhorns.

Before the panel was able to give their predictions for the Week 2 slate, "College GameDay" lost its power.

This happened right after Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps joined the crew as the guest picker.

ESPN analyst Pat McAfee welcomed viewers back into the show after a few seconds of a blackout screen. He credited the power outage to Phelps and his stardom.

"We lost power, but we're back," McAfee said. "We're back to 23 gold medals that shocked the system and sent us into commercial break."

Phelps represented the United States as one of the greatest swimmers in Olympics history during its international games.

After competing in 30 events for the Olympic Games, Phelps took home 28 total medals, 23 of which were gold.

He showed out for the United States in the 2000 Sydney, 2004 Athens, 2008 Beijing, 2012 London and 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games.

After McAfee introduced "College GameDay" back on the air, the panel shared their picks for the Week 2 slate, including Phelps who chimed in on the action.

In the primetime matchup between Michigan and Texas, Phelps picked the Wolverines to take home the victory despite being 6.5-point underdogs to the Longhorns.
