On Saturday afternoon, the No. 8 Penn State Nittany Lions played host to the Bowling Green Falcons.

As expected, Penn State went into the game as huge 34.5-point favorites against the mid-major program. However, the Nittany Lions found themselves trailing 24-20 at halftime.

The Falcons came to play in the first half, throwing for nearly 200 yards and rushing for another 100. At one point, Penn State was down by ten to the Bowling Green squad, but quarterback Drew Allar kept the Nittany Lions afloat with a passing touchdown and a rushing touchdown.

Penn State is coming off a solid 34-12 Week 1 win over the West Virginia Mountaineers, where their defense only allowed 246 total yards and no touchdowns until the fourth quarter. But they are struggling against a much less threatening opponent in Bowling Green.

Penn State fans were obviously not happy with their team's performance to start the game in what everyone thought would be an easy win.

They took to social media to leave their thoughts, with some targeting head coach James Franklin and demanding he be let go.

"James Franklin has the team ready again I see, losing to Bowling Green what a disgrace," one fan said.

    "Penn State stinks"

    "Penn State terrible smh"

"Wtf is wrong w Penn State? 24 point vs Bowling Green in the 1H?"

"Bowling Green giving Penn State crazy work rn"

"James Franklin losing to the future MAC champions can't win the big game"

Penn State is coming off a 10-2 season in 2023 that ended in a Peach Bowl loss to the Ole Miss Rebels. If they want to get even further this season and make a run at the national championship, then they will have to win games like this.
