Lamb Officially Moves to 53-Man Roster for Browns

    By Mike Fisher,

FRISCO - The inevitable is now official. The CeeDee Lamb physical ramp-up for the Dallas Cowboys' opener against the Cleveland Browns is over. ... and the paperwork is turned in.

The All-Pro receiver was full-go for the Cowboys' latest padded practice at The Star as Lamb went against Mike Zimmer's defense and the starters. ... and on Saturday, he was moved from an "exempt list'' to the team's 53-man roster.

All of that - including the end of a holdout that eventually resulted in Lamb getting a four-year, $136 million contract that makes him the second-highest-paid non-QB in NFL history - leads to Sunday.

There was a thought by some that Lamb might be on a pitch count to begin the year , but after this latest practice, No. 88 delivered a short and sharp answer as to whether he's ready to go.

"Yeah, I'm ready," Lamb said. "Shout out to the guys, the coaches, for really guiding me throughout this whole week. Obviously, I knew that mentally I was ready and physically it's a little different of a story, but today got me ready. Yeah, I'm on."

Lamb even offered some specifics on his Thursday work.

"It was a full-contact, full-padded practice and we're game-planning and installing different things, so I got to compete against the 1's," Lamb said. "That was fun."

With Lamb fully up to speed in Mike McCarthy's "Texas Coast Offense'' after missing all of training camp due to his contract situation, the Cowboys have gotten the ace in their deck back.

So much of what Dallas does offensively goes through No. 88, and having him less than 100 percent against a stout Cleveland Browns defense isn't ideal. But CeeDee has quashed any thoughts that he won't be full-go to begin the season.

Meanwhile, now that he's in the fold (and on the roster, with linebacker Nick Vigil also getting the practice-squad call-up), he's detailed what he wants for the rest of his career.

“Staying here," Lamb said when asked what's next for him. "The goal is obviously to get here, but to really show how elite you are is how long you stay here. I would love to be here another contract and another one, and retire here.”

But first ... this contract. This move. And production, starting with the Browns on Sunday.
