Lee Corso Correctly Picked Major College Football Upset on Saturday

In recent years Lee Corso has joined "College GameDay" right before noon on Saturdays to make his picks and predictions. For Week 2, it turns out that Corso correctly picked one major upset that most of the panel didn't see coming.

During Saturday's broadcast of "College GameDay," Corso, along with Desmond Howard, chose the Syracuse Orange to upset the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

The Orange managed to steal the win away with a 31-28 victory over the Yellow Jackets. Georgia Tech had no answers for Syracuse quarterback Kyle McCord and ended up proving Corso right.

Nick Saban, Pat McAfee, Michael Phelps, and Kirk Herbstreit all believed Syracuse was going to lose Saturday's game. Instead, Corso and Howard made the right choice .

McCord proved to be the difference maker for the Orange on Saturday. He finished the contest with 381 passing yards and four touchdowns. Wide receivers Oronde Gadsden II and Trebor Pena both reeled in two touchdown catches apiece. They are now 2-0 to start the year.

Based on how well Syracuse has looked early on in the season, maybe more of the "College GameDay" panel will start considering the Orange as a safe pick moving forward. But no matter how you look at it, it's impressive that Corso made the correct pick.

As for Georgia Tech, they got off to a hot start but failed to live up to the hype against Syracuse. The Yellow Jackets fall to 2-1 and are still in a good spot in the ACC. Head coach Brent Key had his team playing well but it just wasn't enough to beat out the Orange.

Syracuse will move on to Week 3 as they take on the Stanford Cardinal at home. The Orange have a favorable schedule for the next few weeks, as they face Stanford, Holy Cross, and UNLV. The toughest games remaining on the schedule are NC State, Pittsburgh, and Miami (FL).

The Orange are led by first year head coach Fran Brown. He's spent 13 years as a defensive assistant. Before taking the Syracuse head coaching job, Brown served as the defensive backs coach for the Georgia Bulldogs.

After winning their first two games, the Orange are in a position to make some noise this season. Between McCord's hot hand and a less-than-challenging schedule, this is a team that could emerge as a dark horse in the ACC Conference. Especially with both Florida State and Clemson both already having losses on their records.
