Huskers ranked 23rd in latest AP poll after big win over Colorado

The weekend keeps getting better for the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

After the Huskers’ big win Saturday night over the rival Colorado Buffaloes, which moved Nebraska to 2-0 on the season for the first time since 2016, the Big Red has entered the top-25 rankings.

The Associated Press released its latest poll on Sunday, putting Nebraska at No. 23. Five other Big Ten teams cracked the top-25 rankings.

It’s the first time the Huskers have been ranked by the AP since Week 2 of the 2019 season and the team’s highest ranking since also being ranked 23rd late in the 2016 season.

Through two weeks, the Huskers have outscored their opponents 68-17.

Nebraska’s defense is tied for 18th in the nation in points allowed per game (8.5) and 24th in yards per game allowed (232.5) while the offense is tied for 51st in points per game (34) and 58th in yards per game (420.5).

The Big Red will welcome Northern Iowa to Memorial Stadium on Saturday, with kickoff set for 6:30 p.m.
