WATCH: Steph Curry's Hilarious Reaction to Seeing Mavs' Klay Thompson & Dereck Lively II at WNBA Game

As the Dallas Mavericks prepare to defend their Western Conference title with a superstar trio consisting of Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving, and Klay Thompson, Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry might be thinking about what could have been.

Earlier this summer, the Mavs acquired Thompson in a sign-and-trade with the Warriors. After winning four championships after being Curry's running mate for the last 13 years, Thompson and the Warriors grew apart over the last few years, leading to his departure this summer.

On Sunday, Thompson attended the New York Liberty vs. Las Vegas Aces game at Barclays Center and was mingling with his new teammate, Dereck Lively II. Curry saw the two Mavs' interaction and broke up the duo by jokingly saying, "Ew, ew!"

Although Curry was having some lighthearted fun, one would have to assume that he's not thrilled with how things panned out for his Warriors over the summer. Golden State added players like Buddy Hield and De'Anthony Melton in the wake of Thompson's departure, but at the end of the day, neither of those players can fully replace what the future Hall-of-Famer brings to the table, not just talent-wise but experience-wise as well.

Curry, who will turn 37 years old before the 2024-25 NBA season is over, is about to be asked to carry a massive load for a Warriors team that is likely a Play-In Tournament participant at best. Meanwhile, Thompson will be getting some of the easiest looks from deep he's seen in quite some time while playing next to Doncic and Irving.

When the Mavs and Warriors meet for the first time on Nov. 12, Thompson might throw a few lobs to Lively just to show Curry how nasty his new teammate can be on the court.
