As the 2024 college football season approaches, former Georgia Bulldogs legend and ex-ESPN College GameDay personality David Pollack spoke on Outkick's Hot Mic podcast, explaining who he believes could be the biggest threat to Georgia within the SEC this fall.

He mentioned that while Georgia appears to be the heavy favorite to at least reach the SEC championship game this fall, the Bulldogs' four most difficult opponents they face this fall are all on the road.

"It’s easy to look at Georgia and say they’re the best team in the country. But man, their best four opponents they play are away from home, and that’s four top 15 teams," Pollack said. "I mean, you’ve got to go to Texas, you’ve got to go to Alabama, you’ve got to go to Ole Miss, you’ve got to play Clemson at a neutral site."

The Bulldogs will open the season in Atlanta against Clemson in the Aflac Kickoff Game. Georgia will also face tough road tests against Alabama, Texas, and Ole Miss. All three teams were ranked in the top four at SEC Media Day in the predicted order of finish.

Pollack also stated that Georgia could be the best team in the conference but mentioned that two or three teams the Bulldogs play could qualify for the College Football Playoff.

"Georgia could be the best team… I don’t know how the format is going to work... But to me, there’s four teams, and at least two of them are getting in. I would argue maybe a third could get in," Pollack added.

Finally, he mentioned that Georgia's schedule could prevent the Bulldogs from making the SEC Championship game. He projects that the Bulldogs would still make the College Football Playoff as an at-large bid, but Georgia would not receive a bye week in the first round.

"I think Georgia’s schedule is going to be so hard for them to maybe get to the SEC championship game. But do they sit at home and watch the SEC championship game and then go to the playoff? I think that could really happen this year for them."

Time will tell if any of the four programs Pollack mentioned will truly be a threat to the Bulldogs, but with the College Football Playoff opening up to 12 teams, a lot of chaos could ensue this fall.
