ATMORE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — Atmore police officers responded to a home at 301 Beck Street on Sunday morning where 26-year-old Shawn Michael Boutwell was found unconscious after drinking a cocktail mixed with gamma-hydroxybutyric acid and embalming fluid.

The name of the cocktail is now known as “Scoot.”

Boutwell and three others were arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The other three suspects were 35-year-old Leslie Anita Whiting, 47-year-old Amy Jo Louise Nelson of Daytona Beach and 44-year-old Johnathan Alexander Schinasi of Lake Butler.

Atmore police Sgt. Darrell McMann said embalming fluids can be bought online or may be sought out through a connection at a funeral home.

He claimed that “Scoot” is another way to get high.

As the investigation of the home proceeded, more narcotics than just “Scoot” were found in a camper on the property.

“They contacted the investigators with our narcotics division who obtained a search warrant and then went into the house and found more narcotics,” McMann said. “A lot of them, they hadn’t been identified yet, and so it’s been sent to the lab.”

Whiting was also charged with disorderly conduct when trying to delay arrest. She claimed she needed to go to the hospital as well at the thought she may have also had an overdose. When cleared from the hospital, Whiting became irritable with hospital staff.
