Kevin Costner talks potential 'Yellowstone' return

Kevin Costner is open to making his way back to television mega hit "Yellowstone."

Costner was asked about a potential return to the series while promoting his upcoming epic western film "Horizon: An American Saga" at CinemaCon. His high profile departure from "Yellowstone" happened at the conclusion of season five in January 2023.

"I'd like to be able to do it but we haven't been able to… I thought it was going to make seven [season] but right now we're at five. So how it works out – I hope it does – but they've got a lot of different shows going on," he told Entertainment Tonight . "Maybe this will circle back to me. If it does and I feel real comfortable with [it], I'd love to do it."

The actor also commented on how he'd like to have say in how his character, John Dutton, ends the run.

"[Dutton] needs to be proactive in what happens and I've kind of had my own fantasy how [the character's final arc] might be," he said. "But that's Taylor's [Sheridan, show creator] thing. I said as much to him a while back. I had thoughts how it could happen, but we just have to see."

"Horizon: An American Saga" will premiere in May at the Festival de Cannes in France.
