Aurora police are investigating Thursday after they say "multiple people" were shot, resulting in one death and three injuries.

The Aurora Police Department said officers responded to the shooting scene in the area of E Colfax Avenue and Jamaica Street, according to an X post shared from the department's official account at 3:26 p.m.

Aurora police said all four people who were shot were adults. A man was killed in the shooting died at the scene, police said. Two other men and a woman of unknown age sustained injuries, according to police.

"No suspects have been identified or arrested," Aurora police said in a social media post. "We are working to gather any suspect descriptions."

It was not immediately clear what led to the shooting or how many people fired weapons.

In a press conference Tuesday, police said there was a connection between the shooter and the victims. They do not believe it was a random act.

Police said there is a "very large police presence" in the area around the shooting scene.

Police initially shut down the eastbound lanes of Colfax Avenue during the investigation, but reopened one eastbound lane about an hour later.

This is a breaking news story and will be updated.
