Wrongful death lawsuit filed against Kaitlin Armstrong by family of slain cyclist Moriah Wilson

AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Months after a Travis County jury found Kaitlin Armstrong guilty of the murder of professional cyclist Anna Moriah "Mo" Wilson, the family of the slain cyclist has filed a wrongful death lawsuit.

Armstrong was sentenced to 90 years in prison last November for the May 2022 shooting of Wilson as she was staying at a friend's home in east Austin.

The civil lawsuit, filed on Monday by Karen and Eric Wilson, is seeking damages including mental anguish, pain and suffering, and funeral and burial expenses. The lawsuit is seeking $1 million, but with a provision that "a jury determine the full value and extent of damages."

According to the lawsuit, Armstrong is accused of gross negligence and assaulting Wilson. The family is seeking damages of any kind, including "penalties, costs, expenses, pre-judgment, and post-judgment."

Armstrong has filed a motion seeking a new trial in the case. She's currently serving her sentence in Gatesville, with the possibility of parole after serving at least 30 years.
