Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian has traveled all across the country during his coaching career, but named one rivalry in particular to be his favorite.

Sarkisian has served on the coaching staffs of the USC Trojans, Washington Huskies, Alabama Crimson Tide, the NFL's Atlanta Falcons and Oakland Raiders (now Las Vegas Raiders) throughout his coaching career prior to taking the Longhorns head coaching job in 2021.

During his media availability at SEC media days in Dallas, TX, on Wednesday, he revealed that his favorite rivalry game to coach in is the Red River rivalry against the Oklahoma Sooners. His reasoning was the raucous gameday atmosphere and the feel of being both at home and on the road throughout the game.

"I've been part of the Iron Bowl, Apple Cup, SC-UCLA. (Texas-OU) is most unique game I've been apart of," Sarkisian said. "You pull into game at State Fair and smell those corn dogs and turkey legs. It's a unique game: half of the game is a home game and other half of game is a road game."

This statement from Sarkisian truly brings out the joy he has for coaching as the Red River rivalry between Texas and the Oklahoma Sooners brings on an atmosphere unlike anywhere else in the nation.

This season's edition of the Red River rivalry game takes place on Oct. 12 at 3:30 (ET) from Dallas' Cotton Bowl Stadium.
