Quinn Ewers Used One Unexpected Word To Sum Up Arch Manning's Personality

By far the biggest story of SEC media days has been the incoming Texas Longhorns.
Seemingly every player and coach in attendance has been asked about the Longhorns, and now that their representatives finally took the stage, everyone is dialed in even more. The team sent three players along with head coach Steve Sarkisian, with offensive tackle Kelvin Banks, defensive back Jahdae Barron, and star quarterback Quinn Ewers all in attendance.
Despite the fact that Ewers is one of the best quarterbacks and players in college football, a Heisman favorite, and on the cover of the new EA Sports College Football 25 video game, people seem more interested in his backup. How could they not be? For those who are unfamiliar, his backup is a former five-star recruit and was the No. 1 ranked player in his class. This isn't why he is popular, though, as his backup is Arch Manning.
He is the grandson of the legendary Archie Manning and the nephew of former NFL stars Peyton and Eli Manning. The youngest Manning quarterback was expected to push for the starting role or transfer if he didn't win it in the eyes of fans, but instead is waiting his turn behind Ewers.
So, when 2025 rolls around, it will be Manning's team, but until then, he is there to learn and hold a clipboard. Even despite the fact that he has just 30 career passing yards, people need to ask about Manning, so Ewers fielded a few. One of which is turning some heads on social media.

When asked by ESPN’s Elle Duncan to describe Manning, Ewers pulled back the curtain a bit on the most popular backup in sports, calling him “goofy.”
“What most people don’t realize is that he’s goofy; he’s a goofy guy. He’s just fun to be around. He’s a funny guy. It’s hard not to enjoy being around him," Ewers told Duncan.
Many fans may expect their relationship to be a bit rivalrous, but their head coach confirmed it was the opposite on Wednesday.
"These guys are great, great friends. Nobody gets along better," Sarkisian told ESPN . "There's a real level of appreciation for what each guy is doing. Because they know the journey, they know the path, they know how we coach him. From Arch's perspective, he's watching Quinn have to go through some of the adversity, having a fight through injury, having to deal with the criticism of being the quarterback of Texas, so to see him have success, I think Arch is fired up for Quinn."
The Longhorns are viewed as one of the best teams in college football heading into 2024 thanks to their fantastic season last year, and as expressed by Sarkisian, it will be a team effort between Ewers and Manning to get them to their desired goals.
