Five-star WR Kaliq Lockett announces commitment to Texas

Texas has landed its first five-star prospect for the 2025 recruiting cycle.

On Wednesday, five-star wide receiver Kaliq Lockett announced his commitment to the Longhorns via 247Sports' YouTube channel. "Came from nothing and we still climbing. Hook'em," he said.

The Sachse (TX) product is ranked the No. 2 wide receiver in the nation and the No. 5 overall prospect in Texas for the 2025 recruiting class, according to 247Sports.

As a junior, Lockett hauled in 59 passes for 1,299 yards and 13 touchdowns while averaging 22.0 yards per reception. He also excels in track and field, something Steve Sarkisian's coaching staff heavily values.

Lockett took official visits to Texas, Alabama, Florida State, Texas A&M, and LSU this summer. The Longhorns received Lockett's final official visit on June 21 and were able to close the deal.

This is a massive addition to Texas' 2025 class and Lockett is the first of several priority targets to announce their commitment this month.
