    Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian.

Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorn have been red-hot on the 2025 recruiting trail, and that continued in a big way on Tuesday with the addition of five-star wide receiver Kaliq Lockett.

Lockett, from Sachse, Texas, committed to the Longhorns over the likes of Alabama, Florida State, LSU and Texas.

That's a massive commitment and recruiting win for Sarkisian and his staff, and he has wide receivers coach Chris Jackson to thank as well.

Lockett gave both Sarkisian and Jackson a shot-out when discussing his commitment.

“It really came down to putting on for my home state and belief in what Coach Sark and Coach (Chris) Jackson have in-state for me," Lockett told On3's Steve Wiltfong . “I’m going to have to do all the work. But I know if I do the work, if I compete, buy in, learn the playbook, get good grades and stay out of trouble, I know I’ll see the field freshman year and I know I’ll be successful.”

In all, Sarkisian and Jackson seemed to be the main attraction for Lockett, and that had to have been a pretty big draw with Alabama, LSU, Florida State and another in-state school, Texas A&M, also in the running.

He claimed that Sarkisian is an "offensive mastermind," and he seemed to value Jackson's experience as an NFL assistant coach. He also wants to be part of what Sarkisian has built at Texas. As of now, the Longhorns' 2025 class is ranked No. 12 nationally .

“Being around Coach Sark is a blessing itself,” Lockett said. “He’s put a lot of guys in the league and he’s been around a lot of talented guys. Right now I’m going to be in the big pond full of sharks and piranhas and I know I’m one of them sharks. That’s one of the big things as well.”

According to 247Sports, Lockett is the No. 2 wideout in the 2025 class as well as the No. 12 recruit overall.
