Flight co-owners Vicki and Dwight Bailey live nearby and have witnessed the neighborhood's growth in recent years. They tell Axios they're excited to be a part of the changes with the help of their daughter and Flight manager Kayte Morton.
Dwight is a physician specializing in pediatric critical care at Levine Children's Hospital; Vicki is a nurse practitioner. They're not quitting their day jobs but will pop in periodically as Kayte manages Flight.
"We started this as an opportunity to interact with people in a positive way, compared to what we experience with work every day," Dwight said.
The vibe: The 2,700-square-foot space has indoor seating for about 60 people and 25 people on the outdoor patio.
The inspiration for Flight came from the family's travels.
"We want to help people on their journey to learn by exposing them to new wines," Vicki said.
Dig in: Its menu has European-inspired shareable plates, salads and six types of artisanal pizza baked in a custom Italian oven.
All of their desserts — from their oven-baked cookie to the tiramisu — are made in-house.
The wine list features 150 international and domestic wines, 30 of which are available by the glass. Other drink options include cocktails, beer and mocktails.
