Madre is set to open a new bar in New Anthem's former Raleigh taproom

The New Anthem brewery space in the downtown Raleigh's Smoky Hollow development won't be empty long.

Driving the news: Tyler Helikson, a co-founder of the local fast-casual chain Happy + Hale and owner of Madre, is doubling down on Kane Realty's Smoky Hollow, one of Raleigh's newest mixed-use developments.

• Madre, which is adjacent to the New Anthem space, announced on Instagram Thursday it will open a bar there late spring.

What's next: A name hasn't yet been revealed, but it is being described as a "neighborhood bar" with cocktails, a draft beer and wine list and snacks.
