    Metro Phoenix weather is often described as three or four months of extreme heat and lovely, mild weather for the rest of the time.

    On average, triple-digit temperatures last from early May until late September, with monsoon storms bringing heavy downpours, haboobs and flooding to parts of the Valley.

    In the winter, high temperatures hover in the mid-60s with lows typically staying above freezing. While many head to northern Arizona to enjoy the more wintery weather , it has been known to snow in metro Phoenix on occasion .

    January

    • The average high temperature is 67 degrees .

    February

    • The average high temperature is 71 degrees .
    • The average low temperature is 49 degrees .
    • The average amount of rainfall is 0.92 inches.

    March

    • The average high temperature is 77 degrees .

    April

    May marks the return of triple-digit temperatures, with the first 100-degree day falling on May 2 on average, according to the National Weather Service.
