Phoenix experienced gusty winds and dust on Saturday evening as a northerly storm increased the likelihood of local storms, according to the National Weather Service.

Shortly before 6 p.m., strong winds from storm activity in Yavapai County swept across the Phoenix area, pushing dust over Loop 303 in the northwest Valley.

"That's probably mostly improving now, but there's potential," said Austin Jamison, a meteorologist with the weather service in Phoenix.

Wind and dust might be seen on Interstate 10 west of Phoenix and Loop 202 near South Mountain until about 8 p.m., Jamison said.

Desert storms for the rest of Saturday night would mostly be limited to northwest Maricopa County and northeast La Paz County, according to the National Weather Service.
