People brave the heat before Bakersfield’s Park at River Walk July 4 party

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. ( KGET ) — The kids are staying cool before Bakersfield’s hottest show of the year coming to a sky near you for the Fourth of July Party at the Park at River Walk.

This is Cadence Dale’s sixth year. She sells joy for cheap.

“Getting the kids happy and watching them blow bubbles all day,” said Dale. “The free refills are really a plus. They never run out over here.”

IToyz sells bubble guns with a side of smiles and they also sell relief from the Bakersfield Independence Day forecast projected to reach between 109 to 112 degrees.

“We got some really awesome mist fans. We give you free ice water refills all day,” said Dale.

IToyz has been dishing out gizmos and gadgets since 2004, but everyone’s favorite part of the experience is the show in the sky.

“My favorite part of Fourth of July is the fireworks and everyone coming together all to celebrate together,” Dale said.

It’s Liliana Blas-Sanchez’s second time coming to the Park at River Walk Independence Day celebration. “It’s beautiful out here and then we get a free fireworks show.”

Blas-Sanchez came to the Park at Riverwalk early to get a good spot and a bite of her mom’s tasty chicken. She said the best part of the park is the famous lock bridge.

“People put locks over there to remember with a special person they have in their life,” said Blas Sanchez.
