BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — July 25 marks a somber anniversary in Kern County as the community remembers the life of a sheriff’s deputy who was killed in the line of duty.

Philip Campas was killed during a standoff in Wasco three years ago today. He died trying to rescue a family whose mentally ill husband and father was threatening them with guns.
