Hoops & Dreams basketball tournament this weekend in Utica
UTICA — The Hoops & Dreams Project will hold its basketball tournament at the courts at Proctor Park Saturday and Sunday. The courts on Culver Avenue will host games. There will be food, motivational speakers, music and entertainment. The event runs 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Lady Comets heading to national softball tournament
UTICA, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — A local youth softball team is setting out in search of some national hardware in Maryland. The Utica Lady Comets — a youth softball organization consisting of players from all over Central New York — has qualified their 14-and-under team, coached by Kathy Wilmot, for the United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) Eastern National Championships in Ocean City, Maryland. This summer, the Lady Comets have compiled a 28-5 record while traveling all over New York State.
