Good morning. We are devastated to see the damage that took place across parts of CNY yesterday especially in the Rome area as severe weather ripped over the Northeast. Today, a few more storms are possible in the afternoon forming along a frontal boundary however we aren’t expecting these to get too strong. These will strengthen south and east of Utica almost along the border of Oneonta and Delaware Counties before continuing east.
Utica University Pioneers to compete in first-ever NCAA Division III women's ice hockey tournament in Florida this Thanksgiving
The Utica University women's ice hockey team will join three other teams in Wesley Chapel, Florida for the first Sunshine Hockey Classic on November 29 & 30. It will be the first time NCAA Division III women's ice hockey is played in the state of Florida, and will include Norwich University, Trinity College, and Adrian College. Match-ups and game times are still to be determined.

People from 45 different states and 11 countries traveled to Utica, NY for this years big event on the second Sunday in July. Overall it was a huge success. UTICA — The Hoops & Dreams Project will hold its basketball tournament at the courts at Proctor Park Saturday and Sunday. The courts on Culver Avenue will host games. There will be food, motivational speakers, music and entertainment. The event runs 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Some New Yorkers may be eligible for a free air conditioner through New York's expanded Essential Plan program early next year. "As part of Governor Hochul's recently announced Extreme Heat Action Plan, the State's Essential Plan will add coverage for the purchase, delivery and installation of air conditioners for members with persistent asthma," the state Department of Health said. "While this program is currently under development, we intend to perform consumer and provider education and outreach so members know about the benefit."

A state of emergency has been declared for all of New York after several strong storms wreaked havoc across the state within the past week. Gov. Kathy Hochul made the announcement late Tuesday after the latest of the storms toppled church steeples and knocked out power for many residents in Rome.
