Make memories at the 2024 Barron County Fair
Come for the food, stay for the memories when the gates open Wednesday for the five-day run of the 148th annual Barron County Fair. 'Founding Mothers of Barron County' coming to museum
While people often hear talk of the nation's "Founding Fathers" not much is written about the "Founding Mothers." Reservations are required by Friday for Founding Mothers of Barron County, the theme for the 2024 Her-Story Women's History Luncheon on Saturday, Aug. 3, at Pioneer Village Museum. It starts with a lunch at noon and presentation at 1 p.m. A dessert will follow the presentation. The ticket price is $25. This includes admission into Pioneer Village Museum, lunch, presentation, dessert and one entry into the drawing for the door prizes. All attendees wearing a garden hat will get two additional entries in the drawing for door prizes. Croquet games will be set up on the lawn and transportation from the parking lot to the pavilion is available upon request. The museum is located at 1866 13½-14th Ave., Cameron.
Public can help shape health of Barron County via survey
A partnership of local organizations is seeking opinions from people who live and work in Barron County to help guide future community health improvements. The Barron County Community Coalition and its partners are conducting a Community Health Needs Assessment to understand the important health-related issues facing community members. Ellefson Memorial 5K Aug. 10 in Barron
The annual Lyndon Ellefson 5K Memorial Run is Aug. 10 at the Rockman's Woods trail in Barron. The race begins at 9 a.m. with the top three male and female finishers in each age division receiving medals. Timing will be conducted by Tortoise and Hare Race Management. Those registered receive a T-shirt and day pass to the Barron Area Community Center. For entry fees and race registration visit thebacc.com/lyndon-ellefson-memorial-run. Packet pick-up can be done Aug. 9 from noon to 9 p.m. at the BACC front desk. Same day registration and packet pick-up is at the softball stand behind the BACC and Barron High School beginning at 8 a.m.
