TD Live Team Previews: Henderson Co. Colonels
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - High School football previews continue on. Let’s venture back over to Kentucky to Henderson Co. High School, for a closer look at the Colonels. Last season, the Colonels finish strong winning four out of their last six games, ending at 5-7. This year’s team does include six sophomore starters, but Head Coach Josh Boston said last year, an even younger went through the tough parts of the year, and it made them stronger.
OVL championship series starts tonight
It’s championship Friday for the Ohio Valley League. Fifth seed Fulton, who ousted the Hoptown Hoppers last weekend, upset top seed Madisonville 7-2 Wednesday night to advance to tonight’s championship series to take on second seed Henderson. The Flash edged Paducah Wednesday night 6-5 in 10 innings to earn a title bid.
Daviess Co. Football ready for year one under new Head Coach
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - The Daviess Co. Football team has a new face at the helm of the program in Anthony Payton. Payton inherits a young roster with plenty of seniors graduating, including a new starting QB in Garrison Barker. Hunter Corbin returns on defense to anchor for the linebackers. He has been clear right from the jump, likes the talent on his roster, and expects a strong team.
Apollo Football looking to right the ship after 2-8 season
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - High school football previews continue along, as today we checked in on Apollo’s practice to learn more about the Eagles. Last year, the Apollo Eagles went 2-8, and are looking to turn a new page this year. They have some stability on their side on offense, returning starter Max Johnson, along with JT Edge, Jamison Brown, and Carson Carter. But this season, Head Coach John Edge says to accomplish their goal of winning more games, they are breaking things down, and not trying to bite off more than they can chew.
Rangers football leaning on experience with 17-man senior class
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Next up, we go right back to Indiana to Ferdinand, to check in with the Forest Park Rangers. Last year, the Rangers made a big time jump, going from 1-9 in 2022 to 6-5 in 2023. Exciting for them this year, they return almost all of their starters. Their experience will be a huge benefit for this team, as they have a senior class of 17 kids! This was a Forest Park squad that was able to taste success last season, winning in the first round of the sectionals over Mitchell. Now, they are going for more.

Chiefs season ends, Fulton advances to OVL Championship series
PADUCAH, KY -- The Paducah Chiefs saw their 2024 season come to an end on Wednesday night as they fell 6-5 in 10 innings to Henderson in the Ohio Valley League semifinals. Paducah evened the score at 5-5 in the bottom of the 9th inning, then took a one run lead in the 10th. However, the Chiefs would not be able to hold onto that lead as the Flash would earn the walk-off win.

Mattis homers as Otters fall in series finale
FLORENCE, KY – Wrapping up the four-game series Thursday night, the Evansville Otters fell to the Florence Y’alls 8-4 at Thomas More Stadium. The Y’alls (29-34) scored four runs in both the first and third innings to jump out to a 8-0 lead over the Otters (24-40). After the early lead, Florence secured a third win during the four game series.

FLORENCE, KY – On a hot and humid day at Thomas More Stadium, the Evansville Otters fell to the Florence Y’alls 9-6 Wednesday afternoon. Both clubs found the scoreboard in the first inning.
