Pointe Coupee man found 500 feet from his 4-wheeler in the woods
BATCHELOR — The Pointe Coupee Sheriff’s Office confirms Kennith Porche has been located in the woods in Batchelor. Porche, 66, was found around 1 p.m. in the northern part of Pointe Coupee Parish, specifically in Batchelor. It comes after multiple agencies came together to find Porche and located his 4-wheeler around Noon on July 18.
Louisiana Toddler Dies After Shooting Himself in the Face, Sheriff Says
HAMMOND, La. (AP) — A Louisiana toddler has died after accidentally shooting himself in the face, authorities said. The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office said police responded about 1 p.m. Wednesday to a home in Hammond where a 3-year-old boy had been shot. A parent immediately tried to help the child, as did paramedics when they arrived, but the toddler couldn’t be saved, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

A Baton Rouge police officer was one of two people who were arrested after a crash Sunday that injured a 3-year-old. Zaria Brown, 23, has worked for the Baton Rouge Police Department since December 2022 as a uniform patrol officer, but was put on leave in May 2024 for undisclosed reasons, a department spokesperson said.
