Three Republicans, one Independent enter Baton Rouge mayoral race
A day after two Democrats qualified for the Baton Rouge mayoral race, four other candidates threw their hats into the ring. Three Republicans, Nathaniel Hearn, Tammy Cook and Steve Myers, qualified for the race on Thursday. Cook is a real estate agent for Keller Williams in the Baton Rouge area.
Woman pleads guilty to Highland Road Chase Bank robbery from October 2023
BATON ROUGE - A woman pled guilty Thursday to an October 2023 bank robbery that took place at the Chase Bank on Highland Road. Jazmine Johnnie, 23, admitted to attempting to rob the bank of $45,000 on October 10, 2023. According to the admissions, Johnnie went to the location in a rented Dodge Challenger on October 9th and told a teller she would return the next day.

Hot Stuff, a new restaurant with a focus on “country-style cooking,” has opened its doors near the intersection of Florida and Lafayette streets in downtown Baton Rouge. The eatery, which is open Monday through Friday, serves breakfast from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Daily lunch specials are offered.
