Popular Soul Food Spot and Bar in Baton Rouge is Moving

For the past five years, DC Eats was a highly-rated soul food spot, and the attached Da Hole club night packed them in during the evenings. Sadly, owner Dejon Cage had to close the business when the property at 8150 Plank Rd. was bought by the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport .

However, DC Eats is looking to rise again as a sports bar in a plaza just a few blocks away at 4323 Airline Hwy., according to a rezoning application with the Baton Rouge Planning Commission . Although he was forced to close his doors, for now, Cage recently told What Now New Orleans that he’s looking forward to a newer and better DC Eats.

“I never looked into moving because I loved my building,” he said. “I put my all into that location. I expanded my space over the course of five years, knocking down a wall each year. So I had to move what I was already doing successfully.”

If the rezoning application gets approved and he’s able to go forward, Cage said the new DC Eats will have more drink options, regular Happy Hour specials, and a new menu. He was optimistic that a new location could open by early fall.

“I’m excited to see what this move brings on, now that we’re on a main, main highway,” he said. “The new location will have more traffic flow that where they would come on Plank Road.”
