    BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPOUD) — Looking to go on a bike ride? Baton Rouge offers several trails, loops and greenways for you to explore on your next outing.

    Brittanica states that “recreational cycling has been a cornerstone to fitness campaigns, especially in the United States, where more than 65 million people are believed to ride regularly, including more than 6 million who use bicycles to commute.

    Trails, loops and greenways in Baton Rouge span for over a few miles and offer beautiful views and scenery that the city has to offer.

    LSU University Lake Loop

    The primary loop around the LSU lakes is almost four miles long, making it a great trail for birding, hiking and road biking.

    Mississippi River Levee Trail

    Explore the Mississippi River along the Mississippi River Trail, which spans over 13 miles. The path is separated for cyclists, walkers, and joggers.

    Perkins Road Trail

    The Perkins Road Trail in Baton Rouge is a 1.6-mile paved trail that is great for fishing, road biking and running. The trail features a small fishing pond and creek, which provide great scenic views along your ride.

    Capitol Lake Shore Trail

    The 1.5-mile-and-out Capitol Lake Shore Trail is perfect for birding, road biking and running. It is open year-round and allows bikers to explore the beautiful scenery the capital city has to offer.

    Ward Creek Greenway

    There are nature trails, a greenway and a connectivity trail featured at the Ward Creek Greenway. The 4.8-mile-and-out bike trail is great for birding, road biking and running.

    City-Brooks Community Park Loop

    The City-Brooks Community Park Loop is a 2-mile loop for road biking, running and walking. According to the park’s website, a greenway trail runs along City-Brooks Park and City Park Lake.

    • Where: 1515 Dalrymple Drive.

    Scotlandville Parkway Path

    The Scotlandville Parkway Path is a 2.1-mile loop that is great for road biking, running and walking.

    • Where: 3200 Harding Road.

    Perkins Road BMX Bike Track

    The Perkins Road BMX Bike Track is open from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and reserved for birthday party reservations on Saturday and Sunday. According to the park’s website , helmets are required for the BMX bike track.

    • Where: 7122 Perkins Road.

    Hooper Road Park Mountain Biking Trails

    Mountain biking trails at the Hooper Road Park in the capital city go through over 200 acres of woods and bluffs within the park, according to the park’s website . The mountain biking trails are over 5 miles and open from sunrise to sunset.

    • Where: 6261 Guynell Road.

    Comite River Park Mountain Biking Trail

    The Comite River Park Mountain Biking Trail is over five miles long. According to the park’s website , the trail runs along the banks of the Comite River and Cypress Bayou. The trail also features steep terrain and obstacles.

    • Where: 8680 Hooper Road.

    Dawson Creek Greenway

    The Dawson Creek Greenway in Baton Rouge is 1.75 miles. According to its website , “eastern expansion is planned for an additional 3.75 miles.” It features nature trails, greenway and connectivity trails.

    City Park Greenway

    The City Park Greenway located at the City-Brooks Community Park in Baton Rouge sits along the perimeter of City-Brooks Park and the City Park Lake, according to the park’s website . The four-mile trail is a great place for a bike ride.

    • Where: 1515 Dalrymple Drive.
