The HBCU Odyssey of Quay Davis continues.

The former Jackson State and Texas Southern receiver has committed to Southern University . This comes just months after he committed to defending HBCU champion Florida A&M.

Davis, a four-star recruit from Skyline High School, was highly rated as the 23rd-best wide receiver in the 2021 class by 247Sports’ Composite rating system. His college journey has seen multiple commitments, reflecting a quest for the right fit to fully utilize his potential. His physical attributes, standing at 6’0 and weighing 193 pounds, combined with his on-field skills, make him a solid target for any quarterback.

Davis began his college career at Jackson State under the legendary Deion Sanders. Despite high expectations, his playing time in the 2022 season was limited, with just six receptions for 33 yards on the SWAC championship team. Seeking more opportunities, Davis transferred to Texas Southern for the 2023 season where he was expected to team up with quarterback Andrew Body. He showcased his abilities, recording 384 receiving yards and one touchdown. This performance caught the eye of Florida A&M University (FAMU), and Davis committed to the Rattlers in 2024.

But Quay Davis is once again headed back to the SWAC West, where he will join a Southern University offense looking to help get back to SWAC championship level under new head coach Terrence Graves.
