    Caesar Rodney rallies to edge Polytech in baseball

    CAMDEN — Anthony Hatch drove in Colby Rall with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning as Caesar Rodney High pulled out a 3-2 win over Polytech in Henlopen North baseball on Thursday afternoon.

    The Panthers took the early lead with two runs in the top of the first. The Riders tied the contest with a run in the bottom of the sixth.

    Teegan Monroney reached base three times with a home run for CR, which finishes the regular season with a record of 4-3 in the North, 13-5 overall. It’s the most victories for the Riders since 2014.

    Hatch and Will Lorentz each had a pair of hits.

    Pitcher Ryan Zimmerman doubled for the Panthers, who end the regular season at 2-5 in the North, 11-7 overall. That’s the most wins for Polytech since 2018.

    The DIAA state tournament committee meets on Saturday.

    Softball

    Henlopen title game postponed: The Henlopen Conference softball championship game between Sussex Central and Lake Forest has been moved to Monday.

    It will be played in Felton at 4:15 p.m.
